Museum Game, Medieval Farming, 1018
|
For my graduation, I made a game for the Museum of Vlaardingen.
As 2018 is the 1000th anniversary of the battle of Vlaardingen and the municipality is organizing all kinds of things to do with it, the museum prepared a new exposition to do with life around the year 1018. This exposition is targeted at children and families, which is why they have an interest in a game to has been an integrated part of the final exhibition. The subject is farming in the Eleventh century. The final game focused mainly on the placing of ditches to reclaim land, with meaningful choices in the location and the produce to be developed on the created field. Lunar Limbo
Voice Recognition, Audio-based Storytelling, 2018
|
For the Global Game Jam of 2018, Ron Dekker and I made a game, which worked with audio only. The player could wear a headset and go through a branching narrative using only their voice as a control. They would get to talk to the characters in the narrative and even give them orders.
A clever system built by Ron Dekker allowed players to speak in normal sentences, while the system retrieved the necessary information to move on through the story. My main contribution to this project was the writing and creation of the narrative content, while Ron built the voice-recognition and speech systems. Lunar Limbo won the Innovation Prize at the Global Game Jam in Groningen, 2018. Programmed by Ron Dekker For more information click here |
Mission Zhobia: Winning the Peace
During my internship at &Ranj, I helped create a game meant to teach peacebuilders about conflict management skills. It is meant to be a training tool, which is open and free to use for the various institutions which educate the people sent to conflict areas.
I worked on this game as a design intern, focusing primarily on the production phase, I worked on the development of the dialogs and branching narrative. Made by &Ranj For more information click here |
The Buddy
Conversational Skills, Hub, 2016
|
This game is supposed to be the central hub for a new range of games that is being developed for children with ASD. The game is centered around a buddy, a character the player can talk to through the means of multiple choice options.
It was developed in careful cooperation with Accare and a dedicated Psychology student. The multiple choice options were based of a therapy called "Scripted conversation" which has shown promise in the past. A proposal is currently being written to gain funding to test the effectiveness of this game.
